Hello Folks:
This report is a PDF of an HTML page I made using the FREE Software NVU that I talk about in my FREE Web Page Authoring tutorial.
I got started with this particular HTML editing software because I just decided to download it to my computer and started fooling around with it. I made my ultra simple first web page, and, in a couple of hours I had a domain name http://www.rwestdotcom.com/ The hosting company helped me get it up on the web and I just kept going.
Since my name is Riley West and I wanted a dotcom biz so...it seemed like a good idea at the time.
URL names can stick with you though as you grow and practice "hanging" files on your spanky new URL. So pick them wisely. I should have gone for rileywestdotcom.com or rileywest.com
Here's a few of the "files" I have stored over the millinnia.

Both of these files were made on NVU HTML editing software.
As you can see, I don't make fancy websites but they do facilitate sales messages and sales themselves. I also make my download pages with this.

You can’t adjust the chain on your motorcycle without the right wrenches.
You need the right tools!
I could go on but what I want for you is to understand that there are some basic ingredients to Internet Marketing tools that you really can’t do without.
OK. Enough already! You want to
know what the Ten Basic Things are that you need to know to be able to
successfully market via the internet.
So...here it is...
1. You must understand what Internet Marketing is, it’s various forms, it’s jargon, and have a little knowledge of the lay of the land. It’s made up in part with Affiliate Sales, Selling your own product, email marketing, and sales of physical products to name the most well known. To get a really good education, no place beats this place for getting started on the right foot!
2. A prospective Internet marketer really must be able to make up a simple website for themselves. It's way easier than you think.
3. A beginning marketer should know what a domain name is, and how to get one. The same goes for hosting. That’s the outfit that will put your webpage up on the web with your domain name as it’s address. I recommend hostgator. It’s the one I use and it has great support!
4. A student of Internet Marketing (IM) has to know about automatic email followup sales campaigns. Name collection and automated back-end (after the sale) software is the most important aspect of selling online that there is. I use Aweber. It’s the best. Almost everyone uses it. Great tutorials! And now, a better, new look and easier to use.
5. Keywords are your "key" to the markets you are looking at. You need to understand what keywords are and how to work a simple keyword tool so that Google (or someone else) can just tell you the keywords. Other terms for keywords are “keyword phrase”, "long tail keywords”,or even “search query”. And you should open a Google account. Do it today. It's free! And there is SO MUCH there for you that it is flat out amazing. And it's all free.
You do understand that Google is the behemoth that will own our souls shortly. Right now their percentage of total search is near or a little over 50% and growing. So far they have demonstrated a beneficent manner. I'm keeping my eye on them! They just completed building two asolutely huge concrete tilt ups in The Dalles, Oregon where my wife and I like to ride our motorcycles to buy wine. They are going to be putting in several megatons of hardware as "cloud computing" takes over. rw
There are other great things that Google has for you and here's my favorite. (GA)
6. You need to know how to drive traffic to your website or blog. You can learn all about that here. Otherwise it will just sit there, unvisited. No sales.
There are various methods. One of the most popular is writing articles.
When I first heard of this I was intimidated. After I had learned how to write and submit articles it was easy and it caused lots of traffic to come to my salespages. Traffic that matched my salespage because my article was written to match it!
And, one more thing. Article traffic is fast, essentially free, and it lasts! It was the first way I did it. Now I do it even more!
Here's what I do. I submit two articles a week to one place! They distribute my articles to hundreds of publishers! Then sit back and watch the traffic build! Take a look. Submit Your Article. (SYA)
Get this... when you are at SYA they have all kinds of the BEST training and free ebooks in place to help you! You'll be among pro's.
7. You certainly would want to know how to let people pay you for what you offer and how to collect it. (It’s automatic) Start with Paypal. It's the best and it's way low cost...I think it's free! Here's my instructional on How To Get a PayPal Button to work on your pages.
8. One should Start A Blog! They are easy to do and sometimes they can substitute for a website and/or drive traffic to a website. I recommend Wordpress© hosted on your account. It’s FREE! Google loves them!

I signed up for Domain and Hosting at
Hostgator.
They are great to deal
with and have the very best customer support I
have encountered. That alone is BIG! Domains are $15/yr and
Hosting is $9/mo. Cheap and Good Too!
They also include a free program called Fantastico. It will install your wordpress blog effortlessly. When you get done email me at riley@rwestdotcom.com and I will send you an ebook that tells you how to set up your blog for maximum traffic.
Tip: Don't fall for the free hosting Wordpress offers (Or Blogger) When you have your own name and hosting you are in control. Wordpress hosting does not allow sales pages and affiliate links. Did you hear that? We are Marketers! So, don't go to Wordpress.com...go to Wordpress.org
9. FTP! Stands for File Transfer Protocol. Don’t worry about it. It’s totally easy. Way easier than doing it by hand! (Yours truly tried to hang on to the old ways but finally got dragged into the 21st Century)
Use it to upload files to your hosting servers so your webpages can be on the net. There’s lots of them for sale. I use a free one! Cyberduck. Yes Cyberduck…odd name… FREE! Works Great!
For the PC/Windows crowd there is FileZilla! It's FREE too! I'm not sure why but EVERYBODY freaks at the idea of FTP (File Transfer Protocol) I guess it sounds scary at first, it did to me....but it's NOT!
FTP Makes the whole process of uploading and downloading files darn near effortless! From anywhere to anywhere! And Easy.
10. Maybe you are one of those folks who want to be taken by the hand and carefully led down the path to Internet Marketing Success.
I don't blame you! If this had been available when I started (and I had known about it) I would have gone this route for sure!
